Instagram has introduced a new functionality videos to its application. While I really appreciate the fact that now it also allows to share videos but being greeted with a random sound when I launch the application and a video begins playing is extremely irritating.
One aspect that has annoyed many users is that the video is set to auto play which is irritating and other serious issue is that the video starts streaming regardless of the connectivity type, which is definitely an issue in case you are on a 3G data plan with limited free usage.
Steps: Stop Video From Auto Playing In Instagram
However, this issue can be easily fixed from the settings menu. Here is how to disable Instagram videos from auto-playing.
1. Launch Instagram on your mobile. By default the app will open the timeline.
2. At the bottom of the display there are different tabs. Tap the right-most item which looks like a contact card. It takes you to your personal profile – uploaded images / videos, , stats etc.
3. Now in the top right corner tap on the Settings gear (iOS) or the three dots (Android). That presents your settings options.
4. When you are into the detailed settings, go to the “account” section, find the “Auto-Play Videos” option. It will be checked by default. Uncheck the box.
Now, Instagram will not auto play the videos. You can tap on any video, after which it will play.
