Marketing Channels

In simple words, a marketing channel is a group of activities essential for transferring the ownership of goods, and to move products, from the point of manufacturing to the point of consumption. It is composed of all the institutions and all the marketing activities in the marketing process. Marketing Channels can be long-term or short-term. Short-term channels are affected by factors like: business users, technical knowledge, geographically concentrated, large orders, etc. Long-term market aspects comprise of consumers, geographically dispersed, little technical knowledge, small orders, etc. There are essentially four different kinds of marketing channels: Direct selling;, Selling through intermediaries;, Dual distribution; and Reverse channels.

In simple words, Direct Marketing involves activities such as locating a prospective client, making him a customer, marketing that customer and maintaining the relationship going for their benefits and your better earnings. Direct marketing is a technique of marketing a product or service by presenting straight to prospective buyers. Normally, this is carried out on a one-to-one basis so as to generate sales and raise brand awareness.
